For the 5th year in a row the sun shone on the volunteers of Castle Ward as they took to the streets again to clean up their nighbourhood on Make aDifference Day, the national day of volunteering. 41 volunteers tackledmany grot spots filling 3 huge skips with mattresses, sofas, computers andgeneral rubbish dumped in basements and on street corners. Many thanks must go to HBC for the provision of the skips and to the Veolia lorry crew whoprovided outstanding support. A delicious lunch was provided by Blacksmith's Cafe in Britannia Yard and in the evening the traditional BBQwas enjoyed by all. An additional and special attraction this year were Linda King and Rosemary Hudson (alias Vi Green and Hilda) with their turbotrolly full of useful informattion about green issues including recycling.
This event is lead by Castle Ward Forum's Environmental Group. If you would like to get involved ring 01424 434035.
